Cancellation & series finale hopes

I am so bummed that SyFy has decided not to renew the show for season 6. I know five seasons is a long time and I'm grateful we got that much, but I feel like we're going to end on another cliffhanger and there's certainly not enough time in one more episode to really give us the finale the show deserves. There's quite a push on Twitter to get Netflix to maybe pickup the show in some format (I'd hope for a short well-funded miniseries that would let them close it out), especially since they've already filmed Black Summer for next year. Right now a lot of us are planning to up our streaming of Z Nation on Netflix to show them the interest in the show.

As for the finale, I'm curious: what are you most hoping for, given they were not totally sure whether they'd get a season 6 or not when they wrote/filmed it?

Oh, good question! So many of my answers are based on still hoping for a Netflix and/or Shudder miracle, but beginning to accept that this may be the end:

-Closure of some sort. I loved the cliffhanger endings of seasons three and four, but I'm hoping they've got something a little more final planned for five.

-Along with that, hoping that each of the characters gets their moment to shine one last (for now) time. One last iconic moment. One last one-liner. One last reminder of why we love them.

-An upbeat ending. I'm okay with bittersweet, but along with the characters and the humor, one of the things that drew me to Z Nation and kept me with it for five seasons is its sense of hope. As fun as it can be to end a season with an "Everybody's dead and everything's lost! How are they ever going to get out of this one?!", if this is the end of the series, I want it to go out on a more hopeful note. To know that even if everything's not okay by the end of the episode--and I don't think it will be--Our Heroes at least see a path forward from wherever we leave them.

-Warren/Murphy, because my shipper's heart wants what it wants.

I could have written this response exactly. The closure, the character moments, a hopeful ending, Warren/Murphy. I want all of those things, too!

I was most hoping for a conflict or showdown between the talkers and the people in Altura, a rousing moment from George, and for Murhpy to eat Sun-Mei's brain (though I thought that would be in front of others lol). I got two outta three.

Finale wise, I couldn't accept it was an end, so I didn't dwell on it. I guess I wanted a finality to Murhpy's specialness and the cure plot and Zona most of all. An open-ended happy lean to our group.
